0.1000 troy oz .9167 Proof - 70 DCAM (PCGS)

The United States Mint produces a special collector version of its premier gold bullion piece, crafted with the highest level of care. This specific coin is a proof issue, meaning the metal blank was struck multiple times using specialized dies. This intensive process results in extraordinary sharpness and contrast, highlighting the intricate details of the artwork. This particular specimen has achieved the highest possible grade of Proof 70 Deep Cameo, indicating a flawless strike with deeply frosted devices against mirror-like fields. On the obverse, the design presents a powerful figure of Lady Liberty holding a lit torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, walking forward against a backdrop of radiating sunbeams. This iconic imagery is adapted from the famous Gold Double Eagle designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Just below the year of issue, the West Point Mint mark, a letter W, is clearly visible, denoting its origin at the New York facility. The reverse side of the coin shifts focus to a family of eagles, portraying a male bird in mid-flight carrying an olive branch to a nest that holds a female eagle and her young. Inscriptions on this side include the national mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the weight and denomination, which reads 1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD 5 DOLLARS. Containing exactly one tenth of an ounce of pure gold within its 0.9167 fine composition, this small treasure showcases American coin-minting artistry at its finest.
