The half-ounce American Gold Eagle proof coin stands as a testament to the heights of modern minting technology. Crafted at the West Point facility in New York, these specimens undergo a specialized manufacturing process where they are struck repeatedly. This multiple-striking technique ensures that every detail of the design is rendered with incredible sharpness, resulting in a striking contrast against a highly reflective, mirrorlike background. On the obverse, the design showcases a modified version of the famous early twentieth-century gold double eagle design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Lady Liberty is depicted in stride, holding an olive branch in one hand and a lit torch in the other, with the rays of a rising sun beaming behind her. The word LIBERTY is inscribed above, and the West Point mint mark is visible on the surface. The reverse, created by artist Miley Busiek, presents a family of eagles. A male eagle is captured mid-flight, carrying an olive branch to a nest that cradles a female eagle and her young.
