This impressive gold bar weighs one kilogram (equivalent to 32.15 troy ounces) and carries a purity of either 0.999 or 0.9999 fine gold. Produced through a collaboration involving the historic bullion brokers Mocatta and Goldsmid alongside Johnson Matthey, the bar serves as a physical link to the deep traditions of the London gold market. The front of the bar displays stamped details that include the weight, purity, and a unique serial number, alongside the names of Johnson Matthey London and Mocatta and Goldsmid London Bullion Brokers. In contrast to the detailed front, the reverse side of the bar is completely blank. The history behind the names on this bar is extensive. Mocatta and Goldsmid Limited traces its origins back to the seventeenth century, with Abraham Mocatta gaining admission to the Royal Exchange as a broker in 1710. The firm established itself as a key broker in the London bullion market. Decades later, in 1997, the business was purchased by Scotiabank of Canada, which led to the creation of the global bullion division known as Scotia Mocatta.
