Cast and poured in 1961, the bar represents a collaborative era in British financial history, carrying the prestigious names of N.M. Rothschild & Sons alongside Mocatta & Goldsmid, who operated as London bullion brokers. The face of this 32.15 troy ounce bar displays several distinct stamped inscriptions. It features the year 1961, the purity designation of 0.9999 fine gold, and a unique serial number. It also bears the initials "R.M.R." for the Royal Mint Refinery, an institution that N.M. Rothschild & Sons leased for more than a century, from 1852 until its eventual sale to Engelhard Industries in 1967. In contrast to the detailed, stamped obverse, the reverse of the bar is left entirely blank.
