1 oz Silver - 7 Wonders of the World: Temple of Artemis
1 oz Silver - 7 Wonders of the World: Temple of Artemis
This fine silver round celebrates the Temple of Artemis, an architectural marvel of the ancient world. Located in Ephesus, this grand structure was dedicated to the goddess Artemis and built around 550 BCE under the direction of Croesus, the king of Lydia. In 356 BCE, the temple met a tragic end when it was destroyed by Herostratus. Intriguingly, history records that Alexander the Great was born on the very same day the temple burned. The obverse of this piece displays a detailed rendering of the magnificent temple itself. On the reverse, the design features the effigy of Alexander the Great alongside the denomination inscription of 1 Drachm. Struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, each piece features an edge mark indicating its weight and purity, with a limited production run of 7,777 rounds.
