This silver round pays tribute to one of the most celebrated designs in American numismatic history. The obverse presents a faithful adaptation of the Winged Liberty Head, a depiction of Lady Liberty adorned with a winged Phrygian cap. Though commonly known as the Mercury dime due to her resemblance to the Roman messenger god, the original concept was intended to represent freedom of thought. The reverse side of the round features a bundle of rods bound around an axe, known as a fasces, positioned alongside an olive branch. This powerful juxtaposition represents strength and readiness for defense balanced with a desire for peace. The original artwork for both sides of this classic motif was created by Adolph Weinman for the ten-cent piece minted by the United States from 1916 to 1945. Crafted from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, this round captures the intricate details of the historic coin design.
