Between the years 1907 and 1933, the United States produced a ten dollar gold piece that departed dramatically from traditional coinage designs. This issue, struck in 0.900 fine gold, contains 0.4838 troy ounces of precious metal. These coins emerged from three different federal facilities: the main mint in Philadelphia, as well as the branch mints in Denver and San Francisco. This particular specimen has been certified in Mint State 65 (MS-63) condition, preserving its historical details for modern observers to appreciate. The front of the coin displays a profile of Lady Liberty wearing an unconventional Native American war bonnet. Her hair band is inscribed with the word LIBERTY, and thirteen stars curve along the upper border to represent the original colonies, with the year of minting positioned at the bottom. Rather than a standard reeded edge, this coin features raised stars along its rim, adding a tactile and visual element rarely seen on circulating coinage. On the reverse, a proud bald eagle stands as the central focus. The bird is encircled by the country of origin, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, along with the traditional Latin motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM. The face value is expressed at the bottom as TEN DOLLARS. Depending on the specific year of issue, the reverse design may also include the motto IN GOD WE TRUST, completing a powerful display of national iconography.
