100 oz Silver Bar - Engelhard (1st Ser., 6-Digit, Stamp Error)
This vintage silver bar from Engelhard is a remarkable survivor from the mid-1970s, showcasing a rare production anomaly that makes it incredibly distinctive. On its face, the bar bears a corrected weight stamp error. The mint originally stamped the number 1.00, only to correct the mistake by stamping 100 directly over the original error, leaving a visible record of the workshop correction. Crafted from 100 troy ounces of 0.999 fine silver, the face of the bar displays the prominent Engelhard name alongside its purity and weight markings. It also features a six-digit serial number, 014992, stamped at the bottom. With an estimated mintage of fewer than 25 pieces, this first-series bar represents a highly unusual and scarce variation in the history of silver refining.
