(1200-1400 AD) Frankish Greece Denier Tournois VF (Crusades)
This medieval silver Denier Tournois offers a tangible connection to the complex era of Frankish Greece, minted in the centuries following the Fourth Crusade. Struck in silver with a weight of 0.0400 troy ounces, this specimen survives in Very Fine condition, allowing its classic medieval artistry to remain remarkably clear. The obverse of the coin displays a traditional Cross Pattee, a flared cross design that was a prominent symbol of the era. On the reverse, the coin features the Castle Tournois, a stylized representation of a castle or city gate that was widely recognized across medieval European trade routes. Together, these designs reflect the blending of Western European numismatic traditions with the shifting geopolitical landscape of the eastern Mediterranean during the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.
