The 1787 Brasher Half Doubloon stands as one of the most intriguing designs in early American numismatic history. In 2011, this classic piece was recreated as a modern tribute, struck in 0.424 troy ounces of 0.9999 fine gold. To capture the spirit of the original era, the dies for this restrike were crafted by Ron Landis, utilizing minting techniques that closely mirror the methods employed in the late eighteenth century. The obverse of the piece features a detailed eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows, a motif encircled by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. On the reverse, a serene sun rises over a mountain peak with a sea in the foreground. Following the striking process, the distinctive "EB" oval mark was applied to the surface, replicating the famous counterstamp associated with the original historic issues.
