1800-1857 Half Cents Culls

During the formative decades of the United States, the half cent represented the smallest denomination in the nation's currency system. Minted in copper at the Philadelphia Mint between the years 1800 and 1857, these early American coins circulated heavily, passing through countless hands as the young republic grew. Today, surviving examples from this era tell a rich story of daily commerce and survival over more than a century and a half. The obverse of these historic copper pieces features the classic profile of Liberty. On the reverse side, a delicate wreath encircles the words HALF CENT, while the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA frames the outer border. Because these particular specimens are in cull condition, they bear the heavy scars of their long journeys. Each piece may display significant wear, corrosion, bending, holes, or even missing dates, offering a highly tactile and visual connection to the early days of American coinage.
