This silver half dollar from 1825 represents an early era of United States coinage. Struck in Philadelphia, the coin is composed of 89.24 percent silver, containing approximately 0.3868 troy ounces of precious metal. It stands as a classic example of the Capped Bust series, a design created by John Reich that circulated widely during the early nineteenth century. The obverse side of the coin features a left-facing profile of Lady Liberty. Her hair is draped beneath a cap, with the word LIBERTY clearly inscribed across her headband. The year of production, 1825, is positioned directly below her portrait. On the reverse, a detailed eagle holds a shield upon its breast, grasping an olive branch and arrows in its talons. The traditional national motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, is displayed on a scroll above the eagle, while the denomination is indicated at the bottom of the design as 50 C.
