The year 1832 brought a notable transformation to the United States quarter. In this specific year of production, the physical size of the silver coin was condensed to a smaller diameter. Along with this change in scale, the reverse design was simplified by removing the traditional scroll that displayed the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, resulting in a cleaner, more focused aesthetic. Created by designer William Kneass, the obverse features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing her classic cap, surrounded by a ring of stars with the date 1832 positioned at the bottom. The reverse displays a powerful eagle with its wings fully spread, clutching arrows and an olive branch. Legible inscriptions on the reverse include STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination indicated as 25 C. Struck in Philadelphia with a silver purity of 0.8924, this coin represents a fascinating transitional moment in early nineteenth-century American minting. Surviving in Fine condition, it offers a wonderful look at how the nation's circulating currency adapted its form and imagery during a period of technological and artistic evolution.
