The year 1832 marked a significant transition for early United States silver quarters. In this specific year, the mint introduced structural and aesthetic modifications to the denomination, reducing the physical diameter of the coin. Additionally, the reverse design was simplified by removing the banner that previously displayed the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. Designed by William Kneass, the obverse of this silver piece features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing her classic cap, surrounded by a ring of stars. The year 1832 is clearly struck at the bottom. On the reverse, a majestic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, accompanied by the denomination of 25 cents, represented simply as 25. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin is composed of 89.24 percent silver, containing approximately 0.1934 troy ounces of precious metal. Surviving in Very Good condition, it offers a tangible look at the changing standards of American coinage during the early nineteenth century.
