1833 Bust Half Dollar XF-40 PCGS

The year 1833 saw the production of more than five million silver half dollars at the Philadelphia Mint, featuring a classic design that remains a highlight of early American coinage. This particular specimen has survived in Extra Fine 40 condition, preserving a remarkable amount of detail from its time in circulation. Struck in 89.24 percent pure silver, the coin contains just over one third of an ounce of precious metal. The front of the coin displays a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty, her hair draped beneath a cap inscribed with her name. Thirteen stars encircle the portrait, representing the original colonies, with the date of manufacture positioned at the bottom. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle is depicted with a protective shield across its breast. The eagle grasps a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons, symbolizing both strength and peace. Above the bird, a scroll displays the traditional motto, while the denomination is clearly marked at the base.
