In 1847, the sovereign Kingdom of Hawaii issued its own copper one-cent coin, marking a distinctive moment in the islands' monetary history. This piece features a forward-facing, uniformed bust of King Kamehameha III on the obverse. The reverse displays the denomination of the coin nestled within a decorative wreath. Though the original production run reached 100,000 pieces, these copper cents are exceptionally scarce today.
