1850 Large Cent AU

In 1850, the United States Mint in Philadelphia produced a copper large cent that stands as a remarkable example of early American coinage. This substantial copper piece, minted during an era before the introduction of smaller cent coins, carries a significant presence. The obverse features the Classic Head Liberty design, a depiction created by John Reich that presents Liberty facing right, framed by stars with the year 1850 positioned at the base. The reverse of the coin is framed by the bold inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" running along the outer perimeter. Nestled inside this circular legend is a delicate wreath that encircles the central denomination, "ONE CENT". This particular specimen has survived in exceptional condition, graded as Almost Uncirculated, which allows observers to appreciate the fine details of the engraving and the rich texture of the copper surface just as it appeared in the mid nineteenth century.
