0.0000 troy oz 1851 Almost Unc

In 1851, the Philadelphia Mint produced a run of 147,672 half-cent pieces, representing an early circulation strike of a classic American copper design. This particular specimen survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the fine details of its mid nineteenth century craftsmanship. The obverse of the coin features a left-facing portrait of Liberty. Her hair is elegantly braided and secured, and she wears a coronet inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Below the bust, the date 1851 is clearly struck. On the reverse, the denomination HALF CENT is positioned at the center, framed by a delicate wreath. Encircling this central motif is the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. This copper issue offers a fascinating window into the early monetary system of the United States, when even a fraction of a cent held significant daily purchasing power.
