Struck in the mid-nineteenth century, this 1852 Liberty Gold Eagle represents a classic era of American coinage. Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, this ten-dollar gold piece carries a historical weight from a time when precious metal coins circulated actively as daily currency. The coin is composed of 0.900 fine gold, containing approximately 0.4838 troy ounces of pure gold. This specific coin has survived the decades with a grade of Extremely Fine 45 (XF-45), indicating it saw light circulation but still retains much of its original detail. Out of an original mintage of 263,106 pieces, only a fraction survive today in such well-preserved condition.
