In 1852, the Philadelphia mint produced this impressive gold double eagle, a twenty dollar piece containing 0.9675 troy ounces of precious metal. This specific specimen has survived the generations in remarkable condition, earning a grade of Almost Uncirculated 55 (AU-55) for its exceptional preservation. The front of the coin displays a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty. Her hair is secured by a crown decorated with pearls, which clearly displays the word "LIBERTY".
