0.2419 troy oz .900 1852 NGC

In 1852, the United States Mint produced this gold half eagle, a five-dollar denomination struck from 0.900 fine gold. Containing 0.2419 troy ounces of precious metal, this specific coin has survived the decades in an exceptional About Uncirculated 58 condition, preserved in a protective certified capsule. The obverse face displays a left-facing portrait of Liberty, her hair bound by a band inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Thirteen stars encircle her, representing the original colonies. This classic depiction was created by Christian Gobrecht, whose work defined this coin series from 1839 to 1907. On the reverse, Gobrecht's design features a powerful heraldic eagle with a shield draped across its chest. The bird holds the traditional symbols of national strength while surrounded by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Below the eagle, the denomination is abbreviated as FIVE D., anchoring this mid-nineteenth-century piece of American currency.
