1854-D $2.50 Liberty Gold Quarter Eagle AU-55 PCGS

0.1209 troy oz .900 1854 PCGS

In the year 1854, the remote branch mint in Dahlonega, Georgia, produced an incredibly small run of gold quarter eagles. With a total mintage of just 1,760 pieces, this $2.50 denomination represents a fascinating chapter in pre-1933 American coinage. Struck from 90 percent pure gold, each coin contains approximately 0.1209 troy ounces of precious metal. This specific coin features the distinctive 'D' mintmark, identifying its origin from the Georgia facility. It survives today in a notable state of preservation, certified in About Uncirculated 55 (AU-55) condition. The obverse displays the classic Liberty design alongside the 1854 date, while the reverse bears the United States of America inscription and the two and a half dollar denomination.
