The 1867 Indian Head Cent represents a fascinating era in American copper coinage, struck at the Philadelphia Mint during the post-Civil War reconstruction period. This specific coin has survived in an impressive Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the crisp details of its mid nineteenth century craftsmanship. On the obverse, the design presents a depiction of Liberty adorned in a traditional feather headdress. The word LIBERTY is clearly inscribed across the band of the headdress, surrounded by the bold lettering of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the 1867 year of issue at the bottom. The reverse features the denomination ONE CENT prominently displayed at the center. This text is encircled by a detailed wreath, with a small shield positioned at the very top. At the base of the wreath, a bundle of arrows is bound together by a ribbon bow, completing a design rich in the symbolism of its time.
