1868 Indian Head Cent Good

0.0000 troy oz 1868 Good

The 1868 Indian Head Cent represents a classic era of United States minor coinage. Struck in Philadelphia, this coin is composed of a durable alloy containing 95 percent copper, with the remaining five percent made of tin and zinc. Despite its age and the wear associated with a Good grade, the coin retains the essential elements of its mid nineteenth century design. On the obverse, the coin displays a depiction of Liberty adorned in a traditional feather headdress. The reverse features the denomination of ONE CENT placed prominently within a decorative wreath. At the top of the wreath sits a small shield, while a bundle of arrows tied together by a bow rests at the bottom, completing a design created by James B. Longacre.
