During the late 1860s, the United States Mint produced a distinctive denomination that has since vanished from modern pocket change: the three-cent nickel. This 1869 issue, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, offers a fascinating window into post-Civil War American coinage. Rendered in an Almost Uncirculated state, this specimen preserves the fine details of its original mid-nineteenth-century manufacture.
