The 1869 Indian Head Cent represents a fascinating chapter in United States coinage. Struck in Philadelphia, this piece is composed of an alloy containing 95 percent copper, with the remaining five percent made of tin and zinc. Despite its age and a classification of Good condition, the essential elements of this historic penny remain visible to the curious observer. On the obverse, the design presents Liberty adorned in an Native American feathered headdress, surrounded by the legend of the issuing nation. The date 1869 is clearly struck at the bottom of the profile. This imagery offers a distinctive nineteenth-century perspective on American allegorical figures. The reverse of the coin features the denomination "ONE CENT" positioned directly in the center. This text is encircled by a detailed wreath, which is accented by a small shield at the very top.
