During the late nineteenth century, the Austro-Hungarian Empire produced a fascinating gold coinage that bridged national borders. Issued between 1870 and 1892, these pieces carry a dual-denomination of 8 Forint and 20 Francs, a design intended to facilitate international trade and alignment with the Latin Monetary Union. One side of the coin displays a right-facing portrait of Emperor Franz Joseph I, enveloped by a traditional Latin inscription. The opposite side features the crowned shield of the empire, alongside the dual-denomination values and the year of mintage. These pieces were struck at the historic Kremnitz Mint, located in modern-day Slovakia, and were composed of 0.900 fine gold, containing 0.1867 troy ounces of precious metal.
