1870-1901 Canada Silver 50 Cents Victoria Avg Circ (.925 fine)
During the latter portion of the nineteenth century, Canada issued elegant silver fifty-cent pieces that captured the transition of a growing nation. These coins were minted in 0.925 fine silver, containing 0.3456 troy ounces of precious metal. They circulated widely, serving as a cornerstone of daily commerce during the late Victorian era. The obverse of the coin displays the portrait of Queen Victoria, surrounded by her royal Latin titles. On the reverse, the denomination of 50 CENTS is clearly displayed alongside the date of issue, all framed by a classic wreath design. These pieces survive today in average circulated condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that passed through many hands over a century ago.
