1874 Indian Head Cent VG
The 1874 Indian Head Cent represents a classic era of United States coinage. Struck in a metal composition of 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent consisting of tin and zinc, this one-cent piece carries a rich, warm tone. This particular specimen is preserved in Very Good condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation while retaining its essential design elements. On the obverse, the coin displays a depiction of Liberty wearing an stylized feather headdress, a design created by James B. Longacre. The date 1874 is clearly visible beneath the bust. The reverse features a simple and elegant layout, displaying the denomination ONE CENT nestled inside a decorative wreath. Minted in Philadelphia, this coin does not bear a mint mark, which was standard for the facility during this period.
