1876-1880 Spain Gold 25 Pesetas Alfonso XII BU

0.2333 troy oz .900 Brilliant Unc

During a transformative period in Spanish history, the nation minted a striking gold coin valued at 25 pesetas. Struck between the years 1876 and 1880, these pieces represent the era of King Alfonso XII, who occupied the Spanish throne from 1874 until 1885. Each coin is composed of 90 percent pure gold, containing 0.2333 troy ounces of the precious metal. The obverse of the coin features a right-facing portrait of the young King Alfonso XII. Surrounding his likeness are inscriptions that translate to his rule by the grace of God and the constitution. On the reverse, the design displays the crowned coat of arms representing the Spanish Kingdom, flanked by the denomination of 25 pesetas. These specimens survive today in brilliant uncirculated condition, offering a remarkably preserved look at late nineteenth-century European minting.
