The Carson City Mint, marked by the famous double C mintmark, produced some of the most storied coins in American history. Minted between 1878 and 1893, these Morgan Dollars contain approximately 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver, struck in 90 percent fine metal. Today, examples from this era that show heavy wear or other condition issues offer a tangible look at the physical journey these silver pieces took through daily commerce. The design features a left-facing portrait of Liberty on the obverse, her hair band inscribed with the word LIBERTY while she wears a Phrygian cap. The reverse displays a bald eagle, wings spread, clutching a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, with the Carson City CC mintmark visible below the wreath. Legible inscriptions on these historic coins include the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST alongside UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the ONE DOLLAR denomination.
