Depending on where they were struck, these coins may bear the mint marks of Philadelphia, New Orleans, San Francisco, or Carson City. Designed by George T. Morgan, the coin features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty on the obverse. She wears a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton, symbolizing American agriculture. The reverse side depicts a majestic bald eagle with its wings spread wide, clutching both an olive branch and arrows to represent peace and readiness.
