The year 1878 marked the beginning of a legendary era in American coinage with the introduction of the Morgan silver dollar. This particular specimen, struck at the historic Carson City Mint, carries the famous double-C mint mark on its reverse. Preserved in a certified grade of Mint State 63, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 90 percent. On the obverse, a left-facing profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, which is inscribed with her name. This central image is surrounded by thirteen stars, the 1878 date of issue, and the traditional Latin motto meaning out of many, one. The reverse side displays an eagle with outstretched wings, grasping both arrows and an olive branch. Above the eagle, the words expressing trust in God are inscribed, while the country name and the one dollar face value frame the entire design.
