0.7734 troy oz .900 1878 Almost Unc

The year 1878 marked the debut of a legendary American coin design, the Morgan Dollar. Minted in Philadelphia without a mint mark, this silver issue is composed of 0.7734 troy ounces of silver. It circulated widely as a standard unit of United States currency for about eight decades, serving as a tangible part of daily commerce during a transformative era in American history. On the obverse, Liberty is depicted in profile wearing a Phrygian cap, her hair band inscribed with the word "Liberty". This side is framed by the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum", thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the 1878 date of issue. The reverse displays a bald eagle with outstretched wings clutching an olive branch and arrows, symbolizing peace and readiness. Surrounding the eagle are the inscriptions "United States of America", "One Dollar", and the national motto "In God We Trust". This specific coin has survived in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the intricate details of its historic engraving.
