0.7734 troy oz .900 1878 Almost Unc

In 1878, the United States introduced a silver dollar design that would become one of the most celebrated in the nation's history. This early issue from the San Francisco Mint, graded in Almost Uncirculated condition, represents the very first year of the famous Morgan Dollar series. Crafted from 90 percent silver, each coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse features a profile of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap. Her hair band is inscribed with the word LIBERTY, while the outer border is encircled by the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the 1878 date of issue. On the reverse, a bald eagle holds an olive branch of peace alongside a cluster of arrows, symbolizing strength. The eagle is framed by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR. Above the eagle, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST is displayed. Just below the wreath on the reverse, the S mint mark identifies this historic silver piece as a product of the San Francisco Mint.
