1879-CC Morgan Dollar VF-25 PCGS
In 1879, the Carson City Mint produced a striking run of silver dollars, including a notable version known to researchers and enthusiasts as the Clear CC variety. This particular specimen has survived the decades with a certified grade of Very Fine 25, preserving the essential details of its historic design. Struck from 0.7734 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900, the coin represents a fascinating era of American minting in the late nineteenth century. The obverse of this Morgan dollar presents a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, her hair band inscribed with the word Liberty. Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the year 1879, and the Latin motto E Pluribus Unum. These elements combine to create one of the most recognizable faces in numismatic history. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with outstretched wings, clutching both arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Above the eagle, the phrase In God We Trust is visible, while the outer edge bears the inscriptions United States of America and One Dollar. Directly below the wreath surrounding the eagle, the famous CC mint mark identifies this piece as a product of the legendary Nevada minting facility.
