The 1879 Morgan Silver Dollar stands as a classic representative of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck in 90% silver, this piece contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. It survives today in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, having earned a certified grade of Mint State 62 (MS-62). The obverse features a profile of Liberty facing left. She wears a Phrygian cap, which is decorated with cotton and wheat blossoms. The date 1879 is inscribed below the portrait. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, clutching arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The inscriptions on this side include the national motto "In God we trust" alongside the country name and the face value of "ONE DOLLAR."
