Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1879 silver dollar represents an iconic era of American coinage. Minted in Philadelphia, this issue had a substantial production run of 14,806,000 pieces. Each coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.7734 troy ounces of the precious metal, and displays the wear and character of a piece graded in Very Good to Very Fine condition. The obverse features a left-facing profile of Liberty, who wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a band inscribed with her name. Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the year of manufacture, and the Latin motto meaning out of many, one. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with outspread wings, clutching both a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The national motto affirming trust in God is positioned above the eagle, while the country name and the face value of one dollar frame the central design.
