The 1879-O Morgan dollar represents an early chapter in one of America's most recognizable silver coinages, a series that circulated across the nation for about 80 years. Surrounding the central eagle are the inscriptions "United States of America", "One Dollar", and "In God We Trust". The distinctive "O" mint mark is positioned just above the denomination, indicating its origin at the New Orleans facility.
