1879-O Morgan Dollar XF
The 1879 Morgan silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Struck with a silver purity of 90 percent, this coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. This particular specimen survives in Extra Fine condition, preserving the fine details of its nineteenth-century engraving for modern observers to appreciate. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, which features a band inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Surrounding her portrait are thirteen stars, the year of issue 1879, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. These elements combine to create one of the most recognizable faces in the history of United States currency. The reverse of the coin displays a bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping an olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its talons. Above the eagle, the phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed, while the country name UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination ONE DOLLAR frame the central design. Positioned just below the eagle is the letter O, the distinct mint mark indicating this coin was produced at the New Orleans Mint.
