The 1879-S Morgan Silver Dollar stands as a remarkable survivor from the late nineteenth century, minted at the San Francisco facility. Containing 0.77344 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900, this specimen has been certified in Mint State 65 condition. It is especially notable for its toning, which introduces unique coloration across the surfaces of the coin, enhancing its visual character. On the obverse, a left-facing portrait of Liberty is adorned with a Phrygian cap, her hair band inscribed with the word "Liberty". This side is completed by thirteen stars, the year 1879, and the classic Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum". The reverse displays a bald eagle holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Surrounding the central eagle are the inscriptions "United States of America", "One Dollar", and the national motto "In God We Trust". The "S" mint mark, indicating its origin in San Francisco, is positioned just above the denomination.
