0.7734 troy oz .900 1879 Extra Fine

Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1879 Morgan silver dollar showcases the classic artistry of American coinage. Minted in San Francisco, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. It survives today in an Extra Fine state of preservation, allowing observers to appreciate the fine details of its nineteenth-century engraving. The obverse side presents a profile of Liberty, who wears a traditional Phrygian cap. A band nestled in her hair clearly displays the word "LIBERTY." Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars, the year of issue 1879, and the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum." On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The eagle is framed by the inscriptions "United States of America" and "One Dollar." Above the eagle, the motto "In God We Trust" is inscribed. This side also bears the "S" mint mark, indicating its origin at the San Francisco Mint.
