1879-S Stage Coach Silver Dollar Rev of 78 BU PCGS
In 1879, the San Francisco Mint produced a fascinating variety of the classic Morgan silver dollar, utilizing the reverse design configuration from 1878. This particular issue contains 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver, representing a total mintage of 9,110,000 pieces. Preserved in brilliant uncirculated condition, the coin offers a remarkably clear look at the early years of this iconic American series. The obverse features a left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a band inscribed with the word Liberty. Surrounding her portrait are thirteen stars, the year of manufacture (1879), and the Latin motto E Pluribus Unum. On the reverse, a bald eagle clutches both an olive branch and arrows in its talons. The San Francisco mint mark, a letter S, is positioned below the wreath. The inscriptions on this side read United States of America, One Dollar, and the national motto In God We Trust.
