The 1880 Morgan silver dollar is a captivating artifact from a bygone era of American coining. Struck at the famous Carson City Mint in Nevada, this coin carries the distinctive "CC" mint mark on its reverse. Preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, it retains much of its original detail, allowing us to appreciate the intricate artistry of its late nineteenth-century design. On the obverse side, a profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap. A band nestled in her hair clearly displays the word "Liberty". Encircling this central portrait is the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum", alongside thirteen stars that honor the first colonies of the nation. The year of production, 1880, is boldly inscribed at the bottom. Turning the coin over reveals a majestic bald eagle with its wings spread wide. In its talons, the eagle firmly grasps an olive branch and a cluster of arrows, symbolizing both peace and military readiness. This central image is framed by the words "United States of America" and the denomination "One Dollar". The national motto, "In God We Trust", is positioned just above the eagle. Composed of 0.900 fine silver, this piece contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal, making it a heavy, tactile connection to the past.
