The Carson City Mint holds a legendary place in American numismatic history, and this 1880 silver dollar represents a remarkable survivor from that era. Struck with a composition containing 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, this coin has been preserved in a choice state of preservation, certified as Mint State 64 (MS-64). The crispness of the strike highlights the intricate details of George T. Morgan's classic 19th-century design. On the obverse, a left-facing profile of Liberty is adorned with a Phrygian cap. Her hair band is inscribed with the word "Liberty" while the surrounding field features thirteen stars, the date 1880, and the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum". This side of the coin captures the artistic spirit of a growing nation. The reverse displays a powerful bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping both an olive branch and arrows in its talons. Above the eagle, the motto "In God We Trust" is inscribed. The outer rim is encircled by the inscriptions "United States of America" and the denomination "One Dollar". Positioned just below the wreath on this side is the highly coveted "CC" mint mark, indicating its origin from the famous Nevada minting facility.
