The year 1880 marked a notable chapter in American coinage, captured beautifully in this high-grade Morgan silver dollar. Struck at the historic Carson City Mint in Nevada, this specimen carries the famous double-C mint mark on its reverse. The coin is composed of 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, with a purity level of 0.900. Having achieved a certified grade of Mint State 66 (MS-66), it stands as an exceptional survivor from the late nineteenth century, displaying the crisp details of its original striking. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap. A close look reveals the word Liberty delicately inscribed upon her hair band. Surrounding this central figure are thirteen stars, symbolizing the original colonies that formed the nation, alongside the Latin motto E Pluribus Unum and the 1880 date of manufacture.
