The 1880-O Morgan silver dollar represents a classic era of United States currency, belonging to a famous series that served as official coinage for nearly eight decades. This particular specimen was struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, displaying the distinctive "O" mint mark that connects it directly to the Southern branch mint. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains exactly 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal and has been certified in Mint State 61 condition. On the obverse, the design showcases the profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, which bears the word "Liberty" along her hair band. Framing this central portrait are thirteen stars, the 1880 year of issue, and the traditional Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum". The reverse side presents a bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons.
