This silver dollar, minted in 1880, represents a classic era of American coinage. Produced at the New Orleans Mint, the coin carries the distinctive "O" mint mark, indicating its Southern origin. The Morgan dollar series as a whole circulated throughout the United States for roughly eight decades, becoming a familiar part of daily commerce. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is shown wearing a Phrygian cap, which features a band inscribed with the word "Liberty". This side of the coin also displays the national motto "E Pluribus Unum", thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the 1880 year of issue. The reverse side presents a bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping an olive branch and arrows in its talons. Surrounding the eagle are the inscriptions "United States of America", "One Dollar", and the phrase "In God We Trust". Struck from 0.900 fine silver, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal.
