The 1880 silver dollar struck in San Francisco stands as a remarkable example of late nineteenth-century American coinage. The reverse displays a bald eagle holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Surrounding the eagle are the inscriptions "United States of America", "One Dollar", and the national motto "In God We Trust". Below the wreath on this side, the letter "S" indicates its origin at the San Francisco mint facility.
