1881-CC Morgan Dollar BU (GSA)
The 1881-CC Morgan silver dollar is a remarkable survivor from the nineteenth century, minted in the historic frontier town of Carson City, Nevada. This specific coin remains in brilliant uncirculated condition, preserving the original luster and sharp details of its design just as it looked when it first emerged from the coining press. Containing 0.7734 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900, this dollar represents a classic era of American silver coinage. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom, with the word Liberty delicately inscribed upon her hair band. Framing her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the year 1881, and the Latin motto E Pluribus Unum. The reverse side features a proud bald eagle with its wings spread, clutching both an olive branch of peace and arrows of readiness. Surrounding this central image are the inscriptions United States of America, One Dollar, and the national motto In God We Trust, along with the highly recognizable CC mint mark located just below the wreath.
